Problem is everything works perfectly in ubuntu 10.10 but in 11.10 what happens is that I can surf the net with firefox but when i open software centre, i dont see any option to install any application...
Hi all.
First apologies if this is posted in the wrong area.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10. I have since added a few repositories while installing various software.
However when I try to install anything from Software Centre I get the following error:
Quote:
Software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available.
Hi i am pretty new to using ubuntu and the linux os but im learning more things every day. I am having a problem with my display drivers. I have a radeon 5870 and i tried to install the 12.10 but i was having problems getting it to properly work.
When I go to update/install my video card drivers for my EVGA GeForce GTX 460 and reboot, as soon as I log in the desktop wallpaper shows up and nothing else loads.
I am very new to Ubuntu and PC building. I just built my first PC as well, it is around the ASUS P8Z68-VLX mobo. In the tutorials I have seen they talk about installing drivers for the chipset, sound, video card, etc.; it seems though that drivers are already installed on Ubuntu and each of the sites for my mobo and video card only work with Windows.
Hi,
First of all, I'm new to Ubuntu so pls don't give me a hard time :)
I just got rid off windows(es) and installed ubuntu 12.04.02 LTS. However the problem is that I cannot get my wifi working. I activated Broadcom STA drivers ... nothing happened. I installed b43 drivers via sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter command. Again ..
Currenly, I'm dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 64bit on my ASUS K55VD.
I can't or won't completely ditch Windows 7 unless the video card is installable on my Ubuntu partition.
I can't make the best of my laptop or use it's full features if video card is not detected and installed.
Last time, on my old laptop, ASUS K43SV, it's video card is also not detected on older versions of Ubu
I have ubuntu 12.04 on a dual boot laptop with Windows Vista
I installed partimage through software centre in Ubuntu (12.04).
But this software "partimage" is not shown in the list of installed software through dash. Hence I cannot use it even though software centre says it is installed.
What to do now?
Ola!
My recently bought NVidia 9600gt video card causes hangs during a booting of previously installed Ubuntu.
Yes, I've removed elder drivers.
The worst of all is that Ubuntu can't run with this video card from LiveCD too.
I haven't try to install other OSes (like Windows) with the new video card, maybe they won't work too.
