I have a Toshiba Satellite Z930. It came with Windows 7 pre-installed and I want to install Ubuntu as well. Unfortunately the Ubuntu installer doesn't give the me option I require, which is to "install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7".

2. Burn .iso file to USB
3. Put the USB in the Aspire, and boot from it
4. Select "Install Ubuntu"
5. Resize Windows partition
6. Make two partitions in freed space: (1) ext4 /, (2) swap

Hi there, I finally got a new laptop and thought of installing Ubuntu alongside with Windows 7, but something seems very wrong with it. Ubuntu won't load in any way.
Hi there,
So I thought I'd give Ubuntu a go, but I managed to screw it up. I had changed some settings, so I decided to re-install. I didn't know how to do this properly, so I went and wiped the partition in windows, didn't I? Very clever. So now my pc won't even boot.
Good evening,
I am running a 64bit windows 7 system and just tried to install ubuntu 11.10 via the "run it with windows" thing. It wasnt a problem to install it but acctually i cant boot ubuntu and tells me that "gave up waiting for the root device".
I'm installing ubuntu on my new HP laptop which already has Windows 7. I've got Ubuntu 12.04 on a DVD.
I want to install it in the best way and assume that is with a dual boot using a dedicated partition.
So I choose the "Something else" option after install.
Just acquired a new laptop, Gateway NV, i5-430, 4GB, 500GB HD, Intel GMA, and, of course, Windows 7. I wish to install openSUSE (as I have on my other laptops and boxes, with Windows/XP and (sigh..) one Vista). No problems with partitoning any of them, but I have not partitioned a Windows 7 HD.
I do wish to keep Windows 7, but SUSE has become my primary OS.
Hello,
I am trying to get ubuntu to dual boot with windows 8 on my notebook. Whenever I boot up, it goes directly to windows. The notebook is a lenovo z580 that came preloaded with windows 7. I did a clean install for windows 8.
