Hi,
I have an older tablet Toshiba Protege M200. Any version of ubuntu with unity on it I am unable to install on my laptop due to obsolete hardware. I know for a fact that I can take unity off of my ubuntu desktop copy. I am wondering if there is a way to do a fresh install of ubuntu 11.10 or later without installing unity? If there is then I am able to install a newer version of ubuntu.
Running 11.10 with Geforce 8400 GS.
Installed additional Nvidea graphics drivers.
Compviz Grid enabled, but not working.
Unity support test says "no" for not blacklisted and Unity 3D support.
Am I SOL for running grid with my current configuration or do I have options?
Thanks.
Hey guys,
When I click on the Dash Home icon in my launcher, it shows the arrow saying that it is opened, but, it doesn't display it on the seen. Coincidentally this only started when I put my laptop to sleep for the night. It was working fine before that.
I have 12.04.1 I just installed on my CR48, which is an Intel Atom based netbook with an Intel N10 chipset. I never saw video tearing on it before, but tonight I did with the fresh install. I compared Unity 2D vs Unity 3D, and 2D had tearing while 3D did not. This got me wondering, why? What's fundamentally different between the two?
I decided that Unity 3D is a little heavy on this laptop.
I've got Ubuntu 12.04.1, but Unity is still in the 5.14 version. I have a problem with the launcher tooltips, but it got fixed in Unity 5.16. How can I update it?
Hello,
I'm running 12.04 with Unity on my computer.
Hello everyone.
I hope you can help me with this one, problem because of my own mistakes.
based on the title above...I did something to the unity .
I try to install/upgrade to unity 5.0 from here http://techhamlet.com/2012/01/unity-5-on-ubuntu-11-10/
after all installation completed,
I restarted my laptop.
and when I want to login,
there is no "Ubuntu" anymore.
There is only
I switched to Unity 2D but now videos and moving windows are 'choppy'. This problem doesn't happen in Unity which uses compiz. My graphics card is the integrated Intel video card in my Core i3 processor
I assume this is because vsync doesn't match my monitor refresh rate. How can I set it for metacity or whatever Unity 2D uses (not for compiz)?
I just don't know how to name this thread to describe this problem.
I have a laptop dell vostro 3550 (2 graphic card: Intel HD 3000 and ATI HD 6630) on which I installed ubuntu 11.04 (32bits) and i can use unity desktop environment on the first boot.
When the Additional Drivers told me to activate ATI drivers, I click on activate and after that restarted the laptop.
