I installed Ubuntu 12.04 way long back back .
I'm completely new to Ubuntu 11.10 oneric ocelot desktop i386 plus no internet connection. I have a freshly install of Ubuntu and I want to install ClockWorkMod tether to have internet connection thru my smartphone(via USB), but in order to do that, I need to run a .sh file.
I have readed online that I need a bunch of things to install it, like build-essential, g++ compiler...
I'm having troubles with my internet connection in ubuntu right now. Well, a few actually.
First, when I compare my speeds between ubuntu and Windows, I'm getting double my link speed on Windows than on ubuntu.
Second, my internet connection periodically drops. Usually when I'm downloading a large file or putting a large load on my connection.

I have a dual boot system with Windows7 and Ubuntu 12.04 with wired internet connection. It is configured to automatic DHCP. The internet works perfectly well on Windows. But on Ubuntu, the connection sometimes work, sometimes not. On most occasions, internet doesn't work. The indicator does say 'Connection established". I have tried other distros earlier with the same issue.

I own an HP ProBook 4520s laptop which is dual-booted with Windows 8 Pro and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I use a wired PPPoE internet connection, which works fine in Windows. But for the last few days I can't use it in Ubuntu. When I start the connection from terminal it doesn't show any errors, but I can't load any webpages in Firefox.
Hi all
I have a weird problem. My Internet connection just seems to die after a few minutesof operation. If I reboot the desktop, or the wireless router or even just disconnect and reconnect the wireless network it seems to reset and internet works again for a while.
I know this is not an Ubuntu problem as it also happened under Windows XP.
Hello,
I am living in China currently and i have to use a pppoe connection to connect to the internet. My problem occurs when i normally connect to the internet using the:
sudo pon dsl-provider
This connects me for around 25 seconds to the internet and than just hangs up and stops the connection. Does anyone know why this occurs?
