All over the years I have always wondered why my Compiz animations on Gnome 2 are not as smooth as on my old Laptop running with Intel GMA 965. Maybe this is related to low frame rates. When I run glxgears (I know, it's no benchmark test) I get only values about 300 frames in 5 seconds:
$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.

When running glxgears with gnome classic the window pops up but the gears do not display, the framerate is extremely slow:

I enabled multilib so I can install some 32-bit programs I like to use, and I'm having an issue with OpenGL. I decided to test it with ZSNES, and here's what I get in the terminal when I switch it to a video mode that uses OpenGL after it crashes...libGL error: failed to load driver: i965

I have Xubuntu 12.10 with a AMD HD 4250 and I am using the open source drivers. I am trying to run a game called FTL: faster than light, but I get the following errors:
Loading Arch = amd64
No settings file found!
My 32-bit programs won't run. I think it's because they need a 32 bit nouveau driver. I only see a 64-bit driver available. Anyone knows how I can install a 32-bit nouveau-driver?
up to now i had used intel hd4000 graphics built into processor, and was using xorg-edgers drivers (mesa and video-intel) but now i switched to discrete nvidia graphic card and i simply installed nvidia-common from repository , i'm seeing nvidia xserver settings and nv-xserver is reporting opengl4.3 and direct rendering:yes and some apps work correctly but some fail to do so and this command :

Még a '11.3 benyomások' topikban kezdtem el erről beszélni.
Ati-Sapphire Radeon x550 videokártyám elég gyér 3D-s teljesítményt mutat, ráadásul a glxgears parancs lefuttatására egy hibaüzenetet is kiad:
