Hi, I want to install Ubuntu in dual-boot with existing Windows 7 x86. The problem is after few seconds after booting from CD monitor shows "No signal" and shuts itself down.
Using an Ubuntu 12.10 amd64 Desktop dvd on an EFI capable machine have Grub boot options screen running in EFI mode. Selecting "Try Ubuntu without installing" or "Install Ubuntu" gives "can not read cd/0" and "the kernel needs to be loaded first".

Hello.
I'm relatively new to Linux, and I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 64-bits on a HP G72 laptop in dualboot alongside Windows 7 64-bits.

Ok, so I know what your thinking, "why cant people just google and find out about nomodeset?", right?
Well I did find out about nomodeset, but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly.
I have recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my PC which is running Windows 7. I downloaded the iso and burnt it to disk then booted Ubuntu off the disk and selected the "install along side current operating system" option. After the installation I was unable to boot either Windows 7 or ubuntu.
I just started migrating from Windows to Ubuntu 10.04
I have big question regarding installing new softwares.

I want to install a software "ABC12" which is on the web (Let us assume it is Ubuntu version).
What are the ways to install - I am very confused.
