Hi, I just made the switch from Windows to Ubuntu, so I'm still very confused on a lot of things. I backed up all of my files onto my SimpleDrive 500gb external hard drive, but now I can't figure out how to access it on Ubuntu. I've aleady plugged in the USB cable to my laptop, but it doesn't seem to be installing.
I have two desktop computers, a Dell running ubuntu 10.04, and an Acer running win 7.
Hi guys,
So I was looking into how to install Windows 7 from an external USB hard drive. I found a few different programs that allow you to do this by extracting the Windows 7 image file to the external hard drive in such a way that when you boot the computer up, it will boot from the external hard drive and bring you to the Windows 7 installation process.
Here's the background:
I have two hard drives, one (SATA) with XP on it and another (EIDE) with an NTFS partition and Ubuntu on an ext2 (I think, or ext3, I can never remember which one's right). I also have an external hard drive (EIDE) that's completely NTFS.

I was in the middle (more like the end) of a large file transfer onto a Maxtor OneTouch 1TB external hard drive, when the computer froze. i let it go for about 5 minutes but gave up on it recovering, and i manually shut down.
When i rebooted, the hard drive did not mount.

Hello. I've recently received a external hard drive for Christmas. I have the Kiwi, a USB stick version of Ubuntu. When my computer boots up I get the "installer boot menu" and I select "Run Kiwi from USB". I do this as I need to mount and format my HD.
