Hi,
I have acer TravelMate 5760G Laptop, with Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics on it.
Unfortunately, I can not get it to run with Nvidia drivers, what prohibits to run it with OpenGL.
How do I install Nvidia drivers for Ubuntu 12.10? I have a GeForce GT 540m and have been trying to do this for the past 2 months with no luck. I tried the official repository, then I added the x swat ppa. I've installed Linux-headers-generic and Linux-source, and virtually every solution google has to offer.
I have a toshiba satellite L750 laptop with a video card "Nvidia geforce GT525m" on.
I would like to "dual-boot" my pc with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (windows is already on).
I saw from an other discussion Is there a driver for a NVIDIA GeForce GT525M? that there might be some suitable drivers for my video card.
Are they suitable for this Ubuntu version? How can i possibly install ubuntu?
When I install the recommended drivers, even the latest from their ppa, on reboot, xwindows won't start, it just boots to a console login.
If I purge nvidia and reboot, it works with the builtin ubuntu drivers, even 3D, but system reports the experience as 'standard' using driver Gallium 0.4 on NV92 .
I would like to get nvidia drivers working to see if it performs better.
When I go to update/install my video card drivers for my EVGA GeForce GTX 460 and reboot, as soon as I log in the desktop wallpaper shows up and nothing else loads.

I've a laptop with an Nvidia optimus graphic card (GEForce GT 630m) with Ubuntu 12.04 installed. After a while of looking around, I found that the optimus controller for linus is bumblebee, so I installed it.
I would like to know whether is possible to perform GPU calculations using this driver, or Should I install the Nvidia driver?
I've tried installing Nvidia drivers on opensuse 11.3 (32 bit) for my graphics card which is a GeForce 250 GTS
Regardless of whether I do it 'the hard way' which I'm familiar with, or the Yareg repository way found on this forum I get the same behaviour
first at all check lspci | grep -i vgaI have optimus and I see both cards, Intel and nVidia. What do you see?If you install xf86-video-intel instead of nvidia driver, does it work then?
