[ubuntu] Installing driver for Ralink Realtek 8187 WiFi adapter

http://ubuntuforums.org – I purchased a WiFi adapter online, and it came with an installation CD with drivers. I installed it just fine on Windows, and am now trying on Ubuntu 10.10. The CD came with the driver files for Linux as well, but I have no idea why they aren't working - my guess is that I don't properly understand what to do with them. I have uploaded the contents of the folder which came with the CD here. There is a README in there, but the instructions under the installation header didn't get me anywhere unfortunately. The Device ID is: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. (Hardware)

I have a Trim-Slice Value using Ubuntu 11.04. It comes with a Ralink RT5370 802.11n WiFi dongle.

When I plug the dongle in, it does not 'just work'; ifconfig and iwconfig do not show the device, though lsusb does show the device listed:

Hi. I have no experience with Atheros wifi, but I`m having lots of problems with Broadcom. It very rarily works out of the box.

I bought this USB Wireless N Adapter, and took the Linux driver from the installation disk provided.

I followed the instructions in the README file to build the driver. When it comes down to the "make" command, I get an error output.

I have an Ralink wifi card installed. The driver shipped with ubuntu 11.10 does not appear to run my card.

On the ralink website there is a source download for compiling the driver but being new to linux i dont understand exactly what i am supposed to do, I understand that i need to use make to compile the driver.

What i dont understand is the files listed in the readme for the download.

So I checked out:https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rtl8187_wirelessand apparently the AWUS036H works out the box with the RTL8187 driver.So the wifi usb adapter is pluged in. When IlsusbI getBus 001 Device 005: ID 0bda:8187 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

I installed Ubuntu recently and I can't make my wireless connection at home to work. With WINDOWS 7 it works. Also, the cable connection work fine in Ubuntu but I can't keep my laptop in the dining room all the time. So I need to make the wireless work. Here are some information I collected.
