OK, I've used Windows for 17 years, but I am new with Linux so please understand my crass stupidity:
I have had Unbuntu on this desk PC for 8 months or so & actually did a couple of re-installs at the beginning as I messed up, sorted the swap partition OK, re-sized the Linux partition OK & things when smoothly including the update in April.
I have installed Unbuntu, but now i have problems getting to windows 7!!
When i click windows 7 loader the screen simply goes black for a second and then back to unbuntu the same happens with the repair.
Ok, I've tried a million things and read a million forum posts but I can't seem to get anything to work...Here's what happened:
I installed ubuntu on my PC using the "unbuntu installer for windows" on the ubuntu webpage. When I restart my computer, the selection screen appears, I pick ubuntu, it says "installing buntu files", shows the ubuntu loading page, then cycles back through to the selection screen.
Despite a re-install and several reboots, unbuntu will not open.
I am the newbie here and have not a clue as to how UBUNTU works. Not only that, but I am digitally challenged. Every time that I get a new cell phone, I have to find a ten year old girl to explain it to me. I am sick and tired of having to revert my computer to the "out of the box" state in order to clear the Trojan that some S.O.B. has slipped onto my computer.
Hello!
First I'd like to say that I have missed useing Unbuntu. I have been learning a couple of programs that require a different OS that are related to my work as a musician. To make a long story shorter I built a second computer and loaded it with Unbuntu. I utilized an ASUS M3a76-CM motherboard that is loaded with ATI video and realteck audio and is relatively inexpensive.
I am having problems getting grub to load Windows 8 properly after installing Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 8 on a solid state drive.
I am brand new to Unbuntu. I have never installed it before but do have a little experience with Linux.
The company I work for just bought another company that went out of business and one of the PC has Unbuntu 10.04.3 installed.
I'm new to linux and am interested in learning it so I installed ubuntu 12.10 yesterday. Installation went smoothly and I chose "install alongside windows" option and I set about 50 gb using that slider and I thought I used 50 gb from c: drive but to my shock it used 50 gb space from f: drive.
