I just opened nautilus after not updating for a couple of days, and it seems most of what we thought was being removed, is back again. Is this the Gnome version, or did Ubuntu add back some missing features? See the screenshot.

Hi,
I've installed gnome-session-fallback because I prefer classic gnome. My problem is that after logout and selecting "Gnome classic" my desktop looks like I have both: Unity and Gnome running at the same time (you can see this at the screenshot). How can I deal with it?

My favourites dock comes to my right (see screenshot attached), due to some reason (I think its a side effect of an extension install).
I do have restricted extras installed.
I tried another DVD drive
I will have to boot windows and see if there is a hardware issue.

It's been hell getting Ubuntu 12.10 installed, but I've finally got it working.
I'm using nomodeset, and I have an AMD Radeon HD 6540G2 graphics card.
This is the oddest thing I've ever seen. When I take a screenshot of a window or my desktop, I instead receive an older copy of the window or screenshot. What I mean, is that once I take a screenshot using gnome screenshot tool, I will forever get that screenshot when I try and take another. I'm running with the open drivers, under and amd/ati card.
My simple goal is to get a similar desktop environment that the one you can see in the screenshot:
My laptop has an i3 CPU and an ATI HD 5650 graphic card and it is up for the task, but anytime I am trying the installation, I get a weird interface.
What do I have to do after I have installed 12.04 64-bit version to get to the same interface (GNOME) that you have just seen in the above screen-sh
Hi there, first time posting here. I seem to have run into a problem with setting proxies as the button to apply it system wide is missing. I've tried searching this forum and around the internet but with no luck.
Brand new to ubuntu and this forum. Got some great info already. I searched but it's hard to explain what I have. I'm assuming it's a setting I've messed up but I've tried everything. I'm normal when I run kde, but when I boot into gnome with effects this is what my compiz page looks like.
