I have Windows 7 and Debian dual-booted on my laptop. I'm getting cramped for space on the Debian side, so I want to remove the Windows partition and use the whole computer for Debian.
My laptop came with Windows 7 preinstalled, some files (apparently vital windows) was infected by a virus.
My antivirus has moved the infected files to quarantined, and since Windows can no more start.
I installed Ubuntu over it, which renames the partition of mn hard drive "C" to "E".
How can I retrieve the name of my Windows partition after after the changes made by Ubuntu?
Thanks a lot.
Hello everyone,
I am having big troubles trying to install windows 7 and suse 11.1 on the same PC
I never had problem when using XP, what I usually did was:
1) Install XP first, leaving during the disk partitioning an unallocated space for the linux installation
Whenever I select Windows 7 under GRUB, it just hangs at a flashing underscore
windows 7 is installed under my first primary partition, what should the GRUB section look like for it?
I can't check what mine looked like because this happened:
Hello,
I have a partition that I resized using gparted from my ubuntu and after that I installed windows 7 on that.
partition 1: ubuntu
partition 2: windows
partition 3: unallocated
-->
partition 1: ubuntu
partition 2: windows (bigger)
Now theres a bit of freespace left and I would like to resize my windows 7 partition to use that free space.
If I partition it from ubuntu with gparted, t
Here is what my partition looked like yesterday morning:
[100 mb system partition] [499.9 gb partition for Windows 8]
I ran disk manager and reduced the Windows 8 partition.
I have 250Gb drive on a laptop, which has Windows 7 on a 122Gb ntfs partition (which has a "boot" flag on it) and Ubuntu 12.04.1 on a 110Gb extended partition, of which the root ext4 partition is 108Gb and the swap is 1.74Gb. You can see everything in the screenshot below.
Hi, I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my laptop already running windows, but I just realized that a hard drive can only have 4 primary partitions (noob errors). I have a 500gb hard drive. The four partitions are the following: 1 Windows partition (450gb) with 300gb unused, a System partition from windows thats about 200mb, a 13gb partition labeled RECOVERY, and a 100mb partition labeled HP_TOOLS.
Ok I HAD a dual boot gateway laptop with windows vista on it.
partitions
primary restore 10gb
primary windows 100gb
logical ext4 ubuntu 40gb
logical swap ubuntu 7gb
I used only ubuntu because windows was probably infected.
Ubuntu needed more space. So I thought about deleting windows and expanding linux partitions. I had no hd to backup...read on to see how stupid I am...
