Hello all,
This is my first thread on the forums and it's regarding my installation of Ubuntu through WUBI.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate PC, using the Windows installer available on the Ubuntu website.
Ok, I´m new to Ubuntu, and have been trying it out using WUBI, but now I´ve decided to install it on a dual boot configuration alongside my already existing Windows 7 installation.
So here´s my problem: I have 3 HDD's, Windows 7 being installed on sda, with sdb and sdc only for storage. So I go to the installation process, and click the first option there " Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7".
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7 in my laptop, I have experienced a few problems after my installation however. Firstly when I restart my computer I am not presented with the option to run Ubuntu, it just goes straight into running Windows. Secondly my hard-drive is partitioned into two, C and D, Windows is installed on C and Ubuntu got installed on D.
Today I tried to install Ubuntu 11.10 x64 to my Sony Vaio F13 series.
The problem is, Windows is installed to the C: drive of my computer. However, when I choose to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7, ubuntu recommended me to install to D: drive.
After I installed Ubuntu, there is no option to boot in Ubuntu. It just boots into Windows 7 which I do not want to.
Hi there everyone,
My name is Gurinder Hans and this is my first post here. Recently I got into ssh, git and all this server stuff. So I decided to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS because through the terminal you can run all these cool commands. So what I did was create a partition about 40gb and installed Ubuntu on it manually.
Alright, I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my PC which used to have win 7 on my SSD. However SSD(ocz) was defective so I took it out and it's in the process of being replaced. So I decided to install Ubuntu on my 2 TB(ata? drive) which was named Trinity via my previous windows installation. I have about 370 GB worth of valuable data on it so I have no desire to format the entire drive.
I am having problems getting grub to load Windows 8 properly after installing Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 8 on a solid state drive.
When I installed Ubuntu onto my second harddrive, that had Crunchbang on it, I overwrote Crunchbang and could no longer boot my machine.
So, Boot Repair Disk to the rescue...AND I got Windows back up and booting, but without a dual-boot.
How do I get Ubuntu back into the boot-up list?
Do I wipe the Ubuntu drive and start over?
Earlier I had windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 and I use to get option during boot up to choose from both of them. But after installing win 8 in another drive I just see win 7 and win 8 as option. However I am Ubuntu installed hard drive still exists as I can't see Drive E in my computer from either of the windows OS.Can anyone please help me out with this.
