I've scoured the interwebs for tips; accordingly, I've installed rEFIt successfully, and partitioned my hard drive (the latter was done with the default "OSX journaled" setting). The Ubuntu installation CD fires up, and I can get as far as the installation pane. But then there are just two options: "replace OSX with Ubuntu," or "something else."
