[ubuntu] I'm having some problems with web apps using Chromium

http://ubuntuforums.org – I've run into a few issues, and I'm not sure if they're actual bugs or I'm just doing something wrong or expecting a feature that isn't there. Whenever I run a web app, I have the web app icon for it in my dock, but I also have an extra Chromium icon (in addition to my normal one). Shouldn't it just show up as a single program? If I open a web app before I have a normal instance of Chromium running, then any attempt to start a normal instance of Chromium results in a Chromium window that won't let me open any new tabs or use the address bar (it's there, but if I type something in and hit (Hardware)

So for some reason (I feel a bit of deja vu with this) my chromium-browser is displaying as a default/blank icon instead of the proper one.I found the proper icon in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/chromium.svgIt's not being used, for example:no chromium icon by Mark Mrwizard, on FlickrThere's bound to be a simple way to just point the application to that icon address.

Is thee a way to make web pages act like apps?

What I want to do is to split many Chromium pinned tabs into apps. So, for example, I have 2 gmail accounts, 2 tabs in Chromium, and I want separate Chromium instance with Gmail icon in launcher, so I can easily switch to it. I want to do similar thing for Twitter, Google Reader...

I have put the following line in my /etc/bash.bashrc file:

chromium--kiosk www.bbc.co.uk

However I then get an error at start up:

"(chromium:2100): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:"

If I set the Pi to boot into OS at startup it chromium never appears but if I start a terminal window it suddenly opens chromium in kiosk mode and with the specified web page!

What am I doing wrong?

If I click on Chromium (which I've set as my default browser) in my Unity launcher (in 12.04), then it opens as expected.

I've had this issue with Chrome and Chromium for some time, thinking it was due to the fact that iconset I'm using is missing some Icons , but I've tried with many different sets and apparently none have the the correct Icon.

Is it Chrome/Chromium that is expecting another icon? (and what would it's name be?) or the sets i have just don't have that Icon?.

I updated Chromium in 12.04 with apt-get from the official repositories and chromium-browser --version say Chromium 20.0.1132.47 Ubuntu 12.04. but "About Chromium" from the browser itself say 18.0.1025.168 (Developer Build 134367 Linux) Ubuntu 12.04

why is that ? how can I update Chromium ?

Confusing subject perhaps, but hard to describe in one line :)

I have Chromium browser installed, and it is my default browser. I have it locked to the Launcher in Unity.

I'm currently running Chromium 18.0.1025.168 (Developer Build 134367 Linux) on Ubuntu 12.04 with dual screens if I change to full screen I can't change back. If I drag the mouse to the top of the screen and left click I see small drop down.
