I just setup dual boot with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my Windows 7 machine. I can connect to the internet just fine when I boot to Windows; however, when I boot to Ubuntu I can't connect to the internet via a wired connection. I went into the console window and typed ifconfig -a to see if my Ethernet card was visible but it wasn't.
I am familiar with BT, been using it since BT3. The problem I have is with 5r3, when I use wicd to connect to the internet. I have BT installed in dual-boot with Windows 7, not in a virtual machine. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L875D, and the wireless chipset is the RTL8188CE, which I need to use the 8185 drivers.
Hello I am unable to connect to the Internet using a wired connection. I was able to use the wired network yesterday. But I had problems with the flash player, so had to reinstall Ubuntu again. I am able to connect to Internet using wireless connection. But I need to connect to the wired connection. I am using Ubuntu 10.
HI,
This happens often for my ubuntu 12.04.
I'm using ubuntu on my laptop and connect to internet via wifi.
Sometimes even though the connection is established with the modem I'm unable to connect to the internet.
at that times I'm also unable to connect to 192.168.1.1, which should give me the page to my modem even if there is no internet connection to the modem.
Hi all,
I downloaded the installation image, right to the flash drive, then boot from it.
I choose Install Ubuntu, and in the next window, described three recommended conditions, the last-established connection to the Internet.
So, I close with this condition the red X, that is, installer does not see a network.
But if I choose Try Ubuntu, the connection is established and Firefox opens the page.
The wired internet connection by default is configured properly in Ubuntu installation. We can directly dial-up via sudo pppoeconf, or connect to a cable which already on internet.
Hello all, my name is John and I am currently living in china but I'm from Virginia, I have just installed Ubuntu on my HP laptop and I am having a problem with the internet connection. At work there is a wireless connection that the computer will connect to with no problem but at home i have a Modem/Wireless route unit I'm guessing that's called a mini PPPOE?
I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.
