I'm trying to re-enable the synaptics touchpad on my laptop after disabling several months ago... And I can't remember which method I used to disable it.
hi there!
I had Ubuntu 10.10 and I updated it to 11.04.
Now touchpad isn't working :(
it works well on log in screen and I can click on my username and move it but when I click log in it freezes and can't move mouse using it or click left or right button.
can you please help me?
I'm using Acer aspire 5542g and 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04.
thanks and sorry if thread like this already exists
I'm running 12.07 on an acer aspire and have had no problems, until I disabled the touchpad using the Fn and F7 keys. This disabled the touchpad fine. But when I went to turn it back on I got the enabled icon appear but the pad didn't work. The computer has been rebooted since this happened but this has made no difference. It is enabled in the settings, usb mouse works fine.
I once disabled my touchpad because I would rub against it while typing and it would move my mouse elsewhere. I have since re-enabled it from the same place (system -> preferences -> pointing device) but it remains disabled at next boot up.
I know it's a per-user setting, because when I logon as another user to the same laptop, touchpad remains enabled..
I'm on the latest Linux Mint release on an Acer Aspire S3. Unfortunately I can't scroll using my Touchpad. Google helped a little bit since I now know that there should be Touchpad options in System Settings -> Mouse. Unfortunately this is not true for me.
Could somebody point me in the right direction?
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 on an Acer Aspire 5610. The system appears completely stable until I try to do things like listen to music or watch a video. Seems if there is no input from the user (keyboard or using touchpad) the computer appears to hang or go into sleep mode of some kind after only about 5 seconds. Once you press a key or use touchpad - it's back to normal.
hello i have just installed opensuse kde but my touchpad does not work and i have to use a mouse which is not ideal, has anyone got an idea on how to fix the problem please in idiot proof explanation ?
thank you.
I have an Acer Aspire One 725 running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and it flashes the screen when not charging. The same happens when I want to change the brightness of the screen (whether or not connected to a power source). No serious problems, but it is annoying.
Am running OpenSuSE 11.1 / KDE 3.5 on an Acer Aspire 4730Z. Yast Hardware Info reports touchpad as ALPS/PS2 ALPS Glidepoint. Yast/Hardware/Mouse Model displays info for 4 mice. Mice 2 and 3 are the ALPS Glidepoint. When I uncheck the "Activate this pointer" box, the touchpad continues working. The BIOS has no option for disabling the touchpad.
