Hello,
Since a few years I am exploring ubuntu. My next step is up to now not successful.
PC:
Intel i5-2500 with an ultra scsi card Sym 8750SP with chip SYM53C875.
Connected to this card is an HP ScanJet 5P; the scanner works well, so the scsi card is correctly recognized and functioning.
Also connected is a DDS HP tape drive C5683A, which I need for backup.
This tape drive is not seen.
Hi,
The problem I have is I want to restore my AIX machine. I have created a mksysb tape from my tape drive rmt0 and I changed the bootlist using this command "bootlist -m normal rmt0 hdisk0".
However, when I display the bootlist "bootlist -om normal", it shows '-' hdisk0.
this is a combination of my efforts / research and what worked for me. the heavy lifting was done by the guys shown or the people involved in at least two links but i think it will help someone else down the line. i have put much if not all of these comments in the post by marwan_mostafa also and listed below.
my original problem was i could only find /dev/sg0 using lsmod i.e.
HP rp5450 (L2000)

On the DLT 7000 have been getting failures for the past month or so, most of whi
Hi,
I have a machine, and mpzio fails everytime i reboot the server. The machine has tape drives and SAN storage, I'm not sure if that is my issue or not. I was told to not enable mpxio globally as that would do something bad to the tape drives. So, I set it to only make the two SAN connected ports failover.
Hi,
I am trying to determine if a tape is full because on 2 different tapes, im receiving 2 different kind of errors:

tar: write error: unexpected EOF
# mt -f /dev/rmt/0n status
HP DDS-4 DAT (Sun) tape drive:

Hi all,
I have to backup a large file:
513788293117 Oct 4 06:49 2010-10-03_projroot.tgz
that won't fit into only one 3592 tape (around 500Gb) I am using.
I was thinking about using the "L"-length option to split into smaller part and as well the option "M"-multivolume.
Hi,
We replaced one of our tape drives (attached to a SPARC Server) with an LTO5 one (external, attached vi SAS). Manually we check (using tar) that the OS can write data to the Tape Drive, however, the application backup is failing.
Since the application takes its own backup, the apps team opened a case with the vendor.
i have a quantum scalar i40 connect on a centos 5 machine trough SAS interface.
I fight with it since a while because the media changer does not work.
