i have a HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook-PC and my wifi doesn't work after i get ubuntu what should i do to unblock wifi , i tried with rfkill but that doesn't work please help me
I am working with ubuntu (gnome) 10.10 maverick 64 bit on a HP pavilion 2713ca. I have installed the Broadcom sta driver for a BCM4328 wifi driver. After setting wpa security with my password, the wifi network worked for many weeks. However, in the last few days it doe not connect no more.
Thank you so much! I followed your advice and set the rfkill parameters to unblock the device. /etc/modprobe.d/rfkill.confinstall rfkill /bin/false
options rfkill master_switch_mode=2
options rfkill default_state=1While doing that I accidentally discovered that I needed to boot with rfkill disabled (install.../bin/false) and then restart it manually along with ath9k and acer-wmi.
Ok I have this old laptop and I installed ubuntu 11.10 on it. I got the wifi card to work for about a week. Then I took this laptop to work and i turned the wireless off with the button on the top of the ksyboard. So then when i turn it on again at home my wifi card does not work when i press the hardware switch and my laptop tells me that wireless is disabled by hardware switch.
I have a toshiba l655d-s5145. There is no physical toggle for the wireless, although the f8 key is supposed to do the trick. It doesn't. The wireless has been working since October, and suddenly, nothing. RFKILL reports that the wireless is hard blocked, but unblock wifi, unblock 0, unblock all do nothing.
After installing Ubuntu 9.10 (wiht Wubi), i have no Wifi, neither LAN. Terminal shows that both of them is discovered by Ubuntu, but i can't connect. There's just loopback interface...
The button for WiFi doesn't work, so i can't enable it... But i think it's somewhere deeper...
