Running 11.3 on my HP DV4-1220US the sound worked fine until I installed the Broadcom-wl wireless drivers then the sound stopped. I was able to get the sound working again by reconfiguring the sound drivers in YaST but it is unreliable and often stops working and I have no volume control in the system tray. Here is the output from the varous scripts and commands
Hello forum
My HP Pavilion DV4 notebook has been having problems
with the sound for weeks, and I still haven't been able
to fix it.
I've already looked at some other posts, and tried their
posted solutions, but no luck. :(
Some sites say that pulseaudio is the way to go,
and others differ by saying stick to alsa.
Alright, so I've got this sound, right? And it's not working. I know, I know. Common problem with linux noobs, RTFM and google it and all that. The thing is I've tried to just hit up alsa to gimme sound, that didn't work. When I try to run music on console it complains about driver problems and of course drivers were installed and did nothing. It's an IBM Thinkpad T22.
I cannot get sound to operate on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. I recently upgraded from 10.04 to 12.10 but I am not sure that is the problem. I don't recall having sound with 10.04 either. Obviously I have not been using Linux much, at least not enough to recall if the sound worked. My dream is to get up to speed well enough with Linux to wean myself from MS.
my sound is not working.
I am running Quetzal. I have the xfce desktop environment. The relevant drivers are nvidia in origin.
My speakers are on and plugged in. The green plug is in the green input. I have gone through Alsa and have made sure everything is unmuted.
It had been working for a week (just installed ubuntu a week ago).
I think I have Alsa driver installed. Pulse not working may be I dont have it installed. Not sure If I can run Pulse and Alsa. I had to configure each application prior to work which use pulse.(SMplayer by default select pulse. I had to change that)
I know a little about these.
Just installed OSS and alsa drivers to get vgetty working.
Now I have no sound card. The Nvidia AC97 onboard sound is not recognised.
The 'configure devices' part of volume control, sound preferences is empty.
I have re installed all of alsa.
Here is another topic on no sound from the sound card. It was working fine in 11.2 but not now. This was a clean install of 11.3 not an upgrade, whilst leaving my home directory alone. This is no sound from system, Amarok, web browser.>:(
Acer laptop, Intel soundcard.
Hi,
So a few days ago my sound stopped working all together on my Ubuntu 9.04 system, and since then I did some tinkering with the drivers to try and get it going again.
I attempted to install pulse audio to avail, and also tried installing alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.20.3_all.deb
To upgrade my asa drivers.
