After you hit enter, the monitor will be turned off. To turn it on, you just need to move the mouse or hit a key.

There are situations when you want to find a web server, or the CUPS server, or any other server in a local network, but you do not know the IP of that computer.
You can go to computer itself and check its IP, or you can check the DHCP logs, or you can ask the Network Admin, but you can also use nmap

A very simple skript, written in FPC, then rewritten in Python (>=0.3). You can type in hours and minutes, and after this specific time, your Ubuntu will be shutdown.
When I send a reboot command(or shutdown) command to a Linux machine does it keeps that messages at somewhere and can I query it. I.e.
When ever i have my Data off and people send me Picture messages it just says downloading, is there any way it could automatically turn on data for that period of time then automatically turn off? Im using Jedi Mind Trick V5.

I have an Ubuntu server running samba that several Windows clients connect to. On my machine, I have Windows 7 and Gkrellm, which shows me different statistics about my computer, including network traffic.
I notice than when I open the share for the first time I get sustained 3-4 MB/s network traffic to the server (I think this is just maxing out my wireless) without doing anything.
