I am running Alpha2 XFCE, and when I shutdown, there is an horribly loud BEEP!!! that can be heard thoughout the house. I also had the same BEEP when the login screen came up, but I found a setting to stop that.Is there any setting I can change to kill the shutdown beep?ThanksDavid
There has been much written on getting the beep sound from Ubuntu releases over the years. Example: fixing the beep
My needs are slightly different in that I do not want to ensure sound card beeps are functioning. Instead, I want PC speaker beeps, the kind produced by the original built-in speaker because I believe they will produce less CPU load.
In the upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS I seem to have lost my ability to beep within a script. Other sounds seems to work fine, as in videos on YouTube or with Rhythmbox. Re-installing the beep app in Synaptic did not bring it back. Any clues?
Hello guys,A few days ago, I was looking for a method to get rid of the annoying system beep. This one worked for me in openbox:Right click on the speaker icon >> click on Open Mixer >> Select controls > check beepAnd finally click on the speaker icon below .This also disables the annoying shutdown beep.I hope you guys find this useful.Enjoy!
