I'm trying to install Nvidia drivers and Crashplan on ubuntu 12.10. I've downloaded them, but when I open the install files, all I get are text files.
I've got a LAMP setup running Ubuntu 12.04 server and I'd like to integrate it with CrashPlan that I use on all my other mac xserves that I'm running. The problem is that it has to run a gui application to set all the preferences and configurations. CrashPlan has an 'unsupported' tutorial on how to spoof ports and use ssh tunneling with the gui running on a desktop. I'd prefer not to do this.

I recently purchased CrashPlan+ unlimited home plan for three years for $119.99 USD.
Shuttle announced a Barebone XS35 nettop equipped with a dual-core Intel Atom D510, as well as the HD-ready Nvidia Ion 2 graphics. Meanwhile NewEgg is selling an Eee Box B202 nettop with Red Flag Linux for only $189, and the Eee PC-oriented Eeebuntu Linux distro is moving from Ubuntu to Debian with EB 4.0....
I am mounting an image, and just realized that I have to create the
directory for mounting point first. The command mount won't mount
to a non-existing directory.
But I seem to remember in some cases, when I insert some external
device, such as external HDD and CD, I don't have to create mounting
point myself.
Using CrashPlan I've configured two backup sets:
online backup in crashplan's cloud (this is running perfectly)
a local backup on a usb harddisc directly connected to the local laptop.
The USB drive is only connected rarly when being at home. When connecting the drive it mounts automatically. Is there a way to start the local backup whenever the usb disc connected.
Hello,
Every time I receive a notification of a new email my phone vibrates and I can not figure out how to get it to stop.
I have opened my email and gone to Settings -> Clicked on my gmail account -> unchecked vibrate and email notifications
But they persist, its like the email in the notifications and the email app are two separate things, but I can't find where to turn the other
Hello all,
I have a machine that is a simple file server in an office, running 12.04.
The default backup Deja Dup will work just fine for the task of backing up software. However, I'd really like an email notification sent when it's complete.
Is there something else that could perform this simple task of backup AND an email that it either was successful, or failed?
Thank you,

Hi everyone,
Recently completed a new install of 12.04 on my netbook and I am trying to mount a Windows share for the purposes of backing up images and also accessing my existing media and document files on the Windows box.
I did have this working on 8.04 back in 2009/2010.
Essentially I can successfully mount and access the share, but cannot copy up files, or edit files - it's
