Hi, I am new to Ubuntu, and heres what I have. I have a IBM thinkpad that I replaced the hard drive in. I installed ubuntu, thats all thats on there, (no windows).
My machine does not have an internal wireless card, so I have a USB external antenna type wireless conection.
I tried to load the driver,on cd,it didnt seem to load.
Hey World :)
Just brought a Lenovo Thinkpad X200, and did a fresh install of Karmic. Everything works fine, except the wireless card isn't being recognised. There's a thread associated with the thinkpad but it doesn't seem to make sense.
So I lspci 'ed and got:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07)
I'm having a problem connecting to my wireless network on an IBM Thinkpad T23 running ubuntu 9.10.
My wireless device is a TRENDnet TEW-421PC wireless PC Card.
I've tried it in Windows XP and it works great. Strong signal, easy to set up.
I wiped windows XP because I was having problems with GRUB and wanted to use ubuntu anyway.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 and the wireless works just fine so I installed Ubuntu straight away only to find that the wireless will not connect, it will see the networks but just not connect. Has anyone managed to solve this all the forums seem to relate to Ubuntu 9.04 and before.
Thanks in advance
Ross
Wireless was working great until I upgraded from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS.
It sort of seemed I'd needed to rename the device from eth1 to wlan0, but maybe was another laptop. Anyhow, I tried that, and went from a quick boot that could see the AP but would not connect to a 2-3 minute boot with no network config. Obviously, I switched back to eth1. Now I just still cannot connect.
I just installed Ubuntu 12 on my old Thinkpad T41. I've done this once before but back then I installed Ubuntu 11 first and upgraded to 12.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 x64 on a ThinkPad SL410 2874-32U and am not seeing any wireless functionality. All of the information I've seen on this machine mentions 802.11b/g/n, but never lists a brand or model of the wireless adapter.
I acquired a thinkpad x200 recently and wanted to install Ubuntu on it so I could learn the program with this laptop.
I'm relatively new to Linux. My netbook ran updates yesterday for Ubuntu and now I am unable to reconnect to wireless network connection. I am using WPA2 encrypted security. I am able to connect via wired LAN.
