Hello!
I have two audio sets connected permanently to my computer: Stereo speakers in the normal (light green) output jack and my headphones in the front jack.
Problem is: My front jack is dying from having survived too many incidents, most of which implied unintentionally pulling the headphones wire while it's still connected.
I would like to plug the headphones on any of the 5 plugs ha

You mean:$ speaker-test -c 2Maybe the front panel has issues. Does the same thing happen if you plug the speakers in the back of the PC?Do you have any other speakers to test it with? Maybe a friend's or a neighbour's. Also test the speakers on a different computer, to make sure that they're fully functional.
Okay, I'm not sure what type of motherboard I have. All I can tell is that I'm using an onboard video card. I just obtained an old NVidia GeForce 6200 and I want to get it working. If possible, I would like to set it up for a second monitor.
I've been having quite a bit of problems with my laptop battery lately. For some reason when it's not plugged in, my computer will automatically shut off without warning with around 50 - 60% charge still left, according to Windows.
I'm using 11.2 x64_86, Creative X-fi Extreme Music sound card. After a bit of searching around, I got surround sound working correctly on my system with the follow .asoundrc:
pcm.!default "plug:upmix51"
pcm.upmix51
{
type upmix
slave.pcm redirect
channels 6
hint {
show on
