I want to disable one of my USB devices in Ubuntu.
I just want to disable the drivers, not the port itself.
I only want the hardware to be recognized in WMWare, not in Ubuntu

There are TONS of threads about disabling Synaptic recognized devices when one's pounding away at the keyboard, but my HP Mini's touchpad is recognized as a IMPS/2 protocol mouse... A mouse with a scroll wheel.
It works very well that way, but for the inability to disable it without simply purging the drivers (with rmmod!), and then reloading 'em when I want to use the device.
My ATI GPU quit working one fine day. I have a dual boot (Win7+Ubuntu) setup. I am able to disable the ATI GPU in Windows from the Device Manager and I've installed the Intel HD 3000 drivers from Leshcat.
Is there any similar way to get ubuntu 14.04 running on the Intel GPU alone with the ATI card disabled. I use Windows most of the time (work), but I'm not a total newbie to Ubuntu.
