I have a Dell Inspiron 1520, which has the Dell Wireless 1390 card (based on the BCM4311 chipset). During installation, Ubuntu 12.04 detected the device and installed the Broadcom STA driver. However, Unity is not showing an icon for the wireless device, so I am unable to connect to any networks. Any ideas what I need to do to get this working?
I have had Ubuntu 12.10. 64-bit (this is my first dive into the OS) for less than two hours... and already am able to update the system on my old Dell Inspiron 1520, but alas, finding the drivers for this laptop is a chore.
I have Ubuntu 11.10 installed today and trying to connect to wireless but its not working. It has been working correctly on my Windows 7. i am pretty new to Ubuntu. I tried suggestions listed in this forum but nothing seems to be working for wireless.
Hi,
I just installed OpenSUSE 11.2 64 bit on my new Dell Studio 1557 laptop (with i7), which has a Dell 1520 wireless card.
I checked Dell's site, they only have Windows drivers.
So how can I get appropriate driver for Linux ?

Hey I'm trying to get my wirless card working with Ubuntu ver.
Hello all,
I am trying to equip my old Dell Inspiron 1300 with Ubuntu 12.04. Unfortunately, wireless is not working properly. It's ironic because I installed via the netinstall image (according to this tutorial), and during installation, wireless worked perfectly fine!
After booting now, though, it does not work anymore.
hi all i just recently installed ubuntu 12.04 and since install i havent been able to get wireless internet to work. when i plug in the ethernet cable it works i just dont have wireless. i have been searching around and have run out of things to do.
My wireless basically just quit on me in v10.04. I saw there was a 10.10, so I downloaded it hoping that it would fix my problem.
I have a Dell inspiron 1564, the wireless is enabled according to the network manager, when I type "rfkill list" into terminal it says wireless is
hard blocked: no
soft blocked: yes
My wifi card is a broadcom BCM4312...
My Dell Mini 1018 used to work fine with Ubuntu 12.04 with no problems connecting with the wireless card. Then I made the big mistake of attempting to disable WiFi by right-clicking on the wireless applet and un-checking "Enable Wireless." Since then, I cannot get wireless working again.
