With my home network, I am using wireless router that is connected to the internet, my headless server, and three other computers wirelessly. My goal is to add a second source of internet to the network by adding a wireless adapter to the server. In this network, the regular computers can not be used since they can't always be on/stable/in range.
We have a small office network with DSL and a Netgear WNR-2000 wireless router acting as a DHCP server. There are nine devices connected to the router, wirelessly and wired. Whenever a Mac computer tries to connect, it's unsuccessful until we restart the router.

I am trying to increase my understanding of ip networking.
I have my main network with internet and DHCP which is on 192.168.x.x with a router.
Now I have set up an Ubuntu file server and i want it on a separate home network with static ip addresses range of 10.x.x.x.
So I will start with the fact I wasted the whole day trying to figure that out with no results...
I have a small local network behind a NAT router.
Hi all,
I really hope I'm not doing anything dumb here. I've got Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and have recently (within the last 72 hours) started having trouble connecting to other machines on my local network. I'm unable to ping both my router and a server set up in the room beside me.
1. I have tried pinging my server and router from other machines and it works fine.
I'm one class away from my BA IT, I took several classes in general IT. Out of all the books I found just two to be really beneficial.
I have a Netgear router in my living room that has the wireless signal. It is connected to a Powerline plug that goes up to my bedroom. That is plugged into another router that is used as an ethernet hub. It's cables go into my PS3 and my server. The second router shows up as a hidden network on my laptop, and I can connect to it.
I have 3 ubuntu linux computers each with a wireless card. I don't have a router and I don't need to connect to the Internet. Can I make one of my linux computers as an AccessPoint, Run DHCP server and create a wireless netowork among these 3 devices? If so, can you please point me on where to start? Thank you.
