Hi, I have Ubuntu 12.0.4 live cd on my other computer right now. But for some reason it isn't working correctly. I'm trying to install it over windows 7 but after it pulls up the purple ubuntu loading screen, a minute or two passes and I get this error everytime:
(initramfs) unable to find a medium containing a live file system.
Someone please help me, I don't know what is going on with Ubuntu!
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop and I am unable to open the file system.
When this happens I cannot right click on the desktop and I cannot see desktop icons.
But I can open things related to internet like Firefox,Emesene etc.
like when I click Place->Computer or Document or Place its takes few minutes saying "Opening Computer" and than nothing opens .
I ran wubi.exe on Windows, and I got the the attached dialogue box. When it asks for "Desktop environment," are you choosing which OS to install or are you really installing ubuntu with the same programs but just a different style? For example, if "Kubuntu" is chosen, will it install Kubuntu?
My firewall allows Remote Logging so it sends realtime traffic information to any "Syslog server".
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.10. However, I get the following error:
(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system
I get this every time I try to install it on an old dual core PC. I'm booting from a USB but don't have any other usb ports in use. Is there something in particular that I'm doing wrong or should I try installing using a CD?

Realtek ALC861-VD
Have Gnome ALSA Mixer installed and unmuted "Capture" and "ATAPI Mic" and turned them up.
The sound on the system is no problem, only the inbuild mic.
Hope someone can help me :)

Hello,
I tried to intall ubuntu 12.10 64bit (usb) on my new Sony T series. I disabled secure boot and followed instuctions from: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI
I can boot to ubuntu but windows 8 will not boot and I just get the Invalid EFI file path" error. (I think Bug #1024383) As the instructions said I booted to live usb again and ran disk-repair (paste.ubuntu/1406514).
