http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi all, i am trying to use my laptop (running Ubuntu) to take the connected wireless network to allow a separate computer (win7) to be wired to the Ethernet port and be connected to the Internet. To reiterate, I want to bridge my Ethernet and wireless connections so that a computer connected can use the Internet. Modem---(wireless)---> Ubuntu Laptop---(Ethernet port)--- Win7 Desktop Bonus: +1 cookie if you get me on the right track to a static IP. (I failed last time XD, and... the time before that ](*,)) Network bridge more important though. ;) --Additional info-- etc/network/inter (HowTos)

I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.

Hello everyone, I have recently installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a gateway netbook lt303u. My wireless works perfectly, but for some reason, connecting directly to the ethernet port does not (it doesn't even light up when connected to the laptop). I have tested the cable on another computer to confirm the internet is working. I have checked that my MAC address is allowed on the network.

Currently, I have a network setup that kind of duct-taped together.

I have a computer that is connected to the internet via wifi. I then have a ethernet cable coming out from my wifi computer into another computer which has no wifi or place to plug into ethernet.

I have shared the wifi connection to the LAN port, and the computer successfully gets internet. But, on that computer I have a FTP server that I want the wifi network to be able to connect to.

Hello I have been trying to put bridge mode on ubuntu basically my setup I've got a router upstairs that I usually get wireless to my laptop which is connected ethernet to my ps3, so my ps3 gets connected through my laptop

I have a dell latitude 2100 running ubuntu 11.1. Wireless internet works fine on it but wired connections do not. When I plug a ethernet cord in, it keeps on saying wired connection connected followed by disconnected. When I check the ethernet connection in the network part of system settings, it also keeps rapidly changing to on/off.

I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.

I am very new to the Ubuntu 12.04 os and Ubuntu in general. I recently installed it on my laptop. Now with an Ethernet cable correctly connected the wired network connects and then immediately disconnects. I wireless option does not even appear in the network tab.

Hello all, trying to access my NAS but having trouble. In my PC I have a USB wireless network adaptor connection to my router, and I have the NAS connected via the ethernet port in the same PC. I assumed it would be a simple case of connecting the NAS, running ifconfig to find the IP address of the NAS and connecting via web browser.
