I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 today. After I installed it it worked fine. I even restarted my computer, went to Windows 7, then came back and it still worked. Now when I select Ubuntu on GRUB my monitor gets no output, it's just black. My HDD light seems to do nothing too, or it just blinks at a steady rate.
Is there something I can do in GRUB to fix this?
When I turn on my computer (Acer Aspire 3820T), as the title says, I only get a black screen unless I hold SHIFT and go through GRUB and select the topmost option in Advanced options for Ubuntu. If I select Ubuntu in GRUB I get the same black screen. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
I'm new at linux.
I did a bootable usb to install ubuntu.

My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it?
While in the midst of installing a program to Ubuntu, my computer froze. After reboot, I can get nothing but a black screen filled with commands to try after Grub>.
I have a lot of problems with my computer HP G60-445DX that started with a little error. Well, before this, I've used Ubuntu and Windows 7 happily in a dual-boot (65 GB for Ubuntu, 220 GB for Windows) with no problems. But 3 days ago (aprox.) my computer had a forced shutdown due to low battery state without notice and since my computer has been strange and different.
I installed Ubuntu using WUBI, windows installer.
It asked me to boot and while booting, it offered me to start using Ubuntu. I chose Ubuntu and a screen came saying I can go to options menu using Esc, if I entered Esc, it asks me which mode I'd like. I entered demo mode.
Hi, I would like to run Ubuntu just from the CD but that doesn't seem to work. I have a HP Computer with Windows 7 currently, I have downloaded and burned Ubuntu on a CD and rebooted. Startup loads the ubuntu GNU GRUB system, but it is different than what it was on my old computer.
First of all, Ubuntu normally works fine on my desktop, but there is one problem:
Sometimes (starting last week) the computer shows the BIOS screen while booting, but then displays a black screen. If I restart the computer by pressing the power-button, the PC starts normally.
What can I do?
Hello, I have created a liveUSB of Ubuntu 11.10. It works well on my home computer, after selecting Ubuntu in GRUB it loads on and runs. But, when I put the USB into school computer, it loads GRUB, then I choose ubuntu 11.10 and it starts loading. But, it does not boot into a graphical interface, with the login screen, but only gives me a terminal line on a black screen.
