[ubuntu] Have connection but no Internet after updates on 10.04

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello. Please help to a new Ubuntu user. Running 10.04 LTS x64 on Acer Aspire 5720z as the only OS. Everything worked just wonderful before the recent updates. After rebooting I stopped being able to browse web or use Skype. I have a wired connection, via splitter (Netgear 5-port 10\100 fast ethernet switch). Same cable works fine on another laptop with WinXP. I recently started having troubles with my Ubuntu 12.04 machine's wired connection. It will go for periods where it is working completely fine then it will stop working while other machines connected to the network still have a connection.

I have tried uninstalling Realtek r8169 and installed r8168-8.032, but I am still noticing this problem.

I can connect with wired connection in my living room but I can't with my wireless card. I'm pretty sure card is ok because I got a new one and driver works fine. I had Ubuntu 12.04 then I downgraded it to 11.10 and I have the same problem over and over again. I searched all over the forums and I can't find an answer.

The ethernet on this desktop has been problematic.  Itkeeps finding the wrong gateway.  I.e., it sees the router, but not the internet.Right now it is working only because my brother-in-law locked the gateway in the /etc/network/interfaces file.Here's is what he done.root@crunchbang:/home/rscheng# ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:16:ec:8d:e4:47 inet addr

I just installed ubuntu 12.04.1 alternative install (for raid 0 on some disks). I Have some problems with the net.

I am using Ubuntu 12.10. My internet connection was working fine. I tried to connect college LAN after changing IP but it didn't work. Then I changed to previous IP and tried with to connect but now it is showing Connection established but there is no internet access.

I wonder if "Interrupt" affects internet connection.

I'm on an HP Pavillion dv4-1125nr with a Broadcom BCM 4312 network card.

I only have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on this computer.

ifconfig reports:

I just set up an new DirectAdmin, and I want to prepare it for IPv6 use. My ISP have gave me an range of IPv6 addresses that I can use. Lets say that address is 2a01:7c8:**:1f::.

My neworkadapter user DHCP to resolves its IP-addresses.

I did a first time install of Ubuntu 11.10 using Wubi and the ethernet connection on my laptop. (so I know that the ethernet interface is working and connected correctly). I finished the install and booted up Ubuntu. The wireless connection works find, but I am not able to get the wired connection to work.
