[ubuntu] Gwibber not working

http://ubuntuforums.org – Gwibber isn't working on my Ubuntu install. When I open it, it just shows icons at the top and a grey area under them. I've seen other threads and Ask Ubuntu posts about this, and there seem to be 2 solutions: disable the firewall and disable Facebook. I'm not using a firewall, and Facebook is the only service that I do use Gwibber for, so disabling it wold defeat the purpose of having it for me. Is there any other way to make Gwibber work? (Hardware)

Hi All,

Trying to debug/fix gwibber. Install 12.04.1 1 month ago and gwibber+twitter worked and not facebook see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...r/+bug/1058672 .

Upgraded to 12.10 yesterday and now when I launch gwibber I just see a a grey screen with no info.

I've tried the following to "reset" it with absolutely no results.

Brand new fresh install of ubuntu 12.10, with all updates installed. I've added my facebook account in ubuntu online accounts. It works fine in empathy, but neither gwibber nor the gwibber social lens show anything. If I open gwibber its just blank. If I manually click refresh it just sits there "refreshing" forever.

Possible Duplicate: How do I safely remove gwibber?

I am new to linux and I started using Gwibber but I wanna uninstall it from my Ubuntu. What shall I do?? Quick help needed. My facebook is always online right now. I dont even know how to log out of facebook in Gwibber. Please help..

twitter refreshes and shows feeds just fine but facebook doesn't. if i use gwibber to post something for myself it shows up if I confirm it on my droid but it doesn't pull any data in gwibber. it's like working only in one direction. i checked proxy settings, tried removing and reinstalling. no go. removing and adding the account didn't work.

Gwibber completely ignores paragraph property of any text message. There is no line-break until maximum width reached. For example, if a Facebook link post contains title,body & summery, gwibber wraps everything into a single line.This makes very difficult to read & comprehend the context.

I removed Gwibber as soon as I installed Ubuntu. I used Gwibber on another Ubuntu computer, and didn't like it.

I didn't mind the notifications from Gwibber when I got new @replies, but I just installed Hotot, and like it a lot. But, I am getting notifications from Hotot and Gwibber, even though I dont have Gwibber installed, and havent for months. How can I fix/get rid of this?

Gwibber is the default micro-blogging application that comes with Ubuntu. Ever since it has been included as a default application in Ubuntu, I have complained about it in every review I had done. It is so sluggish and consumes so much system resource that using it is never possible while doing any intensive task.Well, things are about to change in Ubuntu 11.10 “Oneiric Ocelot”.

My Ubuntu 12.04 had been getting annoyingly slow during the day..

So I decided to have a terminal running top in one of my monitors at all times. I noticed that gwibber-service - gwibber is a ubuntu default application - was poping up in the top of cpu usage plenty of times.

I deleted it.

Now days after its deletion I keep seeing the process gwibber-service popping up!

I've been using Ubuntu 12.04 for months now, and Empathy was working perfectly fine. Even Gwibber. But lately, these both have stopped working!

The connection for Facebook chat is not getting accepted in Empathy whereas in Gwibber, I only get a blank screen when I link my Facebook account.
