I set up a DNS server on the local network to provide pages for an intranet, the network router was set to use the DNS server as its primary and only DNS server, to ensure that all the local pages would be accessible and they were; all computers on the network could access all the pages without problem, including mobile phones and tablets connected to the wireless extenders.
I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 in my desktop PC and wired-lan for connecting internet. I'm able to connect with internet without any problem. But the network icon in the notification area always showing disconnected.

I am currently using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and I have a problem with auto connecting to my network.
The problem occurs sometimes when my wireless network drops out - which happens at least 3 times a day. Usually there is no problem, but from time to time the system doesn't want to connect to the network.
I get a clear signal and the computer shows that it is connected to the network, but the pages don't load. The message at the bottom of the window reads: "waiting for www.google.com..." -or- whatever page I am trying to get. Also, with this WiFi device, will I be able to stream live TV? Or should I purchase a newer WiFi USB device?
Hello. in XP, how do I map a network drive via command line so that it pops up a username/password dialog (with a "remember password" option), as you would if you went to "Tools->Map Network Drive..."? "net use e: \\server\share" seems to require the username password to be kept in plain text in the .bat file.
