After daily updates, the system won't boot onto Ubuntu. This is a dual-boot machine and it was working fine. I already tried re installing Grub and repairs using Boot-Repair. Your help is appreciated. I get the following message:
-Missing Modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
Alert! /dev/disk/by-uuid/5fd6f7a1-9e3c-438d-ad0b-332c29463c92 does not exist.
Dropping to a shell!
The motherboard

has BIOS that lets you set the function of various SATA controllers to be "Native IDE" "RAID" or "AHCI" (Advanced Hardware Controller Interface).
My machine shut down and when I rebooted I got the following:
Screen init failed

-check rootdelays = (did the system wait long enough?)
-check root (did the system wait for the right device?)

Hi, I've been working with the tech support guys that i bought this workstation/server through and have reached a problem. I'll attach the lspci -vv output, but the gist of the problem is that if I set the BIOS to show the drives as IDE the OS sees 5 drives, plus the cd-rom.
Hello, I've just bought ExpressCard SATA Controller adapter which contains Marvell chip. I'm trying to get this working, but without success. It won't detect any disk, sometimes device itself isn't detected. I was searching for answers on google, but nothing can be found. The only interesting thing was something like "ahci.marvell_enable=1", but it has no effect.
After installing Ubuntu 12.10 I cannot boot my machine anymore. I get the following error.

- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
- Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
- Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)

I have a Ubuntu server that I want to put 2 other SATA hard drives on but the board just has 2 SATA ports right now. So Looks like the only way to add a SATA port is with a PCI SATA card.
I need to buy one yet. But wanted to ask here is there a good one that works with ubuntu? Looking from what I seen they say they come with Windows drivers.
