Yesterday I installed ubuntu 12.04.1.
Note : its a dual boot system along windows 7
At first grub was appearing and i was able to start ubuntu but then i had to switch to windows but windows was not booting when i select windows 7 it jumps back to grub window. So i fix the Windows Boot Loader using repair from windows media and wolla windows started to boot but Ubuntu Grub gone.
First post..go easy :)
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 as a dual boot with my Windows 7. I was using the Grub Customizer to mess with the Grub menu. I changed the resolution of the grub menu using Grub Customizer from 1900x1080x8 (or 16) to 1900x1080x24. Upon reboot I can no longer see my Grub menu. I can hit up/down arrow and select the OS by guessing.
I have a dual-boot WIn 7/Precise system. I made a mistake with grub-customizer and now at the grub boot menu I can't see any of the Linux entries, just the Win 7 one. What would be the easiest way to boot Linux so I can run grub-customizer again?
I can install grub-customizer with the Ubuntu LiveCD, but it asks for a root partition and I don't see one listed.

Hi there,
Complete beginner with Linux here who recently dual-booted Windows 7 with Ubuntu on two hard drives (one solely for windows, one for Ubuntu).
My boot priority is set to
(1) HDD with windows
(2) HDD with Ubuntu & partitions.
I'm trying to restore Grub to boot Linux Mint 13 and Windows 7. I just installed Windows 7, which rewrote the MBR, and then I was told I could simply boot Ubuntu live cd, install boot-repair, and reinstall grub over the MBR. I went through the installation, using the option to purge the old grub, but it failed, asking me to run some terminal commands to uninstall grub.
Hey guys,
I'm a complete noob at Ubuntu and I have a dual-boot with Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7. The Windows Boot manager timeout is 0 so it boots straight to ubuntu and sometimes even skips grub but if I press the up key i think it is then grub shows. However Windows does not show up on it. There are three options. Ubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu Recovery, and Ubuntu 11.10 (generic mode)?
Okay, here is the deal. I installed Ubuntu 11.10 in October or so, so that it would dual boot on my laptop along with Windows Vista. I haven't had any problems with the set up since then. It would boot using the Windows boot loader which I noted was different from my desktop which would use Grub.
Grub -- the GRand Unified Bootloader -- is the program in charge of booting your computer. When you start up your computer and get a menu asking you whether you want Windows or Linux -- that's grub.Reading the grub' project's website, it's hard not to conclude that grub' exists mainly because eve ...
When I try and start Grub Customizer, I get an error window that says the following:
/usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig:7: /etc/default/grub:9: not found.
I was originally trying to make my Windows 7 as the default program to start. Searching the Internet I found that using Grub Customizer would help me do this. It was already installed in my applications so I thought I would try it.
