It's 2 year I've started using ubuntu. In ubutnu 10.04 until ubuntu 11.10 anything was Ok with my Graphic card, But when I migrate to ubuntu 12.04 I had a corruption in my graphic card and I paid expert to repair it. It was Ok with ubuntu 12.04 in continuous but when I upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 I'm never able to install my nvidia.
Hi,
I'm pretty new to Ubuntu but I love it, I recently installed 11.04 it on a old laptop - Vostro 1710. Everything works fine except it says it does not have the firmware for the wireless card, so I can't pick up any wireless networks. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Hi I have a dell XPS L502 x laptop with Nvidia GT 540 m 2 GB graphic card. Initially I was having heat up issues with fan constantly running .
So I turned on my computer and log into my gnome-shell session to find that the shell is gone, and there is instead a very thick panel with a vertically repeated pattern of the gradient the Unity panel displays. I ran some tests and found out that my graphic acceleration was failing.
Hello there
I installed 12.10 a few days ago and everything has been fine until I downloaded the Nvidia drivers from the software centre. Now, whenever I boot into Ubuntu, I've lost the side bar and the top menu bar and the screen resolution is much lower than it was (everything looks much bigger on the screen).
I need your help to install nvidia driver for Gforce 8400M GS on UBUNTU 11.10 Desktop 32 bit, Notebook Dell Inspiron 1520, no display detected when plug in, and unknown graphic card.
Regards,
My laptop is Dell Inspiron 5420, with two graphic cards:
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Nvidia GeForce GT 630M
I took the Thinkpad T400 configuration guide as an example to configure my Linux, but I only get the integrated card to work, and the card is not using the Intel driver
Currently, the behavior of my system is:
using the intel driver in the Xorg.config, X cannot starts, reports cannot find
