I am a new user of Ubuntu 12.04.
I am installing the windows XP and Ubuntu using both operating systems.
From the start my desktop does not show the grub menu.
Please guide me with step by step instructions.
Thanking you.
First post..go easy :)
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 as a dual boot with my Windows 7. I was using the Grub Customizer to mess with the Grub menu. I changed the resolution of the grub menu using Grub Customizer from 1900x1080x8 (or 16) to 1900x1080x24. Upon reboot I can no longer see my Grub menu. I can hit up/down arrow and select the OS by guessing.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04.
I cannot for the life of me get the grub menu (with options) to go away.
I would like it to auto-boot into the first option.
Actually, this is two somewhat-related problems, although GRUB is involved with only one.
Grub does not detect the third operating system on my hard drive, which is Windows XP.
The grub menu contains entries for Ubuntu 11.10, and Windows 7 but, no entry for Windows XP.
I have entered a line in the grub.cfg file that is supposed to detect Windows XP. But it didn't work.
How can I get Windows XP detected by grub?
I have been trying to set up a dual boot ubuntu for a couple of days with no luck.
With a clean machine, installing Windows 7 and then Ubuntu 11.10, on reboot, I do not get a grub menu, instead it goes straight into Windows.
I tried installing Fedora 16 which worked as expected (Grub menu with Windows and Fedora options).
Formatting the Fedora partition and re-installing Ubuntu over it gi
Hi EveryOne,
I had a dual boot system with ubuntu and windows running fine, while using ububtu grub loader.
Now i installed red hat on the same computer and mentioned to install grub in the first boot partition sector.
Now while starting the the computer i see only the previous options to boot into eithre windows or ubuntu.
I dont see any option for red hat.
Hey guys,
I'm a complete noob at Ubuntu and I have a dual-boot with Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7. The Windows Boot manager timeout is 0 so it boots straight to ubuntu and sometimes even skips grub but if I press the up key i think it is then grub shows. However Windows does not show up on it. There are three options. Ubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu Recovery, and Ubuntu 11.10 (generic mode)?
Hello, new to the forum!
I have a few partitions on my 300gb hard drive of varying sizes. My operating systems right now are Ubuntu 11.10, Backtrack 5 R2 (just to fiddle around with) and then a data partition. My bootloader menu is getting a little crowded, and since Backtrack is Ubuntu, the menu is full of Ubuntus and I'd like to clean it up a bit.
