Usually I can change between monitors with Fn+F8 without problems. Only when I put the computer into hibernation, bring it back and then try to activate the external mnitoor I get a 100% freeze and need to hard reset. When I press Fn+F8 then, the monitor activates, both screens turn black with only the mousepointer on them.
I have a Dell XPS13 connected via a mini-display port+DVI cable to an external monitor. I have installed Kubuntu 13.04 and all is working well, EXCEPT that the resolution on the external monitor only mirrors the resolution of my laptop screen (1920x1080). I only see one "default" screen when I try to set it up (settings-> display, or kcm_screen).
The monitor of my netbook broke down. I connected it with a external monitor successfully. But now everytime I start up, I have to manually select the external monitor and deselect the monitor of the netbook (3x fn & F4).
I thought of changing xorg.conf, but since I missed some versions of Ubuntu, I find out xorg.conf is not there anymore.
Good morning. Yesterday I finished my installation of Ubuntu on my Asus G74Sx and now I can not get the external monitor to display. I've tried within Ubuntu with no luck and even FN+F8 with no luck. Has anyone been able to hook an external monitor (VGA) up to this notebook running Ubuntu? Thanks much ..
Hi I am having an issue after disconnecting from an external monitor that my display is enlarged the windows run off the screen so I can open catalyst control or settings->displays to try and see what the problem is. I'm thinking its from unplugging from my monitor but Ubuntu is usually smart enough to figure that out.
