http://ubuntuforums.org – I'm having trouble with some graphical glitches, and and am hoping that someone will be in a position to help me: Under Ubuntu 11.10, when developing with the Panda3D engine, I have occasional distorted/improperly rendered triangles (often stretched to cover large portions of the screen). Under Ubuntu 12.04, when attempting to play various 3D games via Wine, I've experienced a variety of graphical issues, including: Distorted/improperly rendered triangles, as described above. Significant performance issues when a GUI is showing, but not otherwise. The games failing to detect any graphics dev (Hardware)

I'm getting graphical glitches on text, and even some icons within menus, like this: www.dropbox.com/s/1d6jt0qs6g5nf5r/glitches.png

It happens seemingly randomly in everything from Terminal to Chrome.

I'm on Ubuntu 12.10.

I think it might have something to do with my graphics drivers but I don't know if/how to update them (I'm new to Linux).

So I am using dual monitors and every time I boot up my machine after entering my password to login, both screens show distorted graphics which eventually go away. I am on Ubuntu 12.10 the OS type is 64 bit and my graphics driver is Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV620. Is there any way to prevent the distorted graphics from showing up at all?

Hey all,

I'm having some issues with games in 12.10

I've tried Open Arena and Xonotic and both games have trouble with the graphics, the screen is huge and way off the centre, making the games unplayable.

I have been using Ubuntu since 9.10 and have always gamed in wine without an issue. I have been running 12.04 since its release and have been playing the Sims3 and Wow in Ubuntu flawlessly. However I recently upgraded my video card from a Radeon HD 6850 to a HD7870, when I did the upgrade I reformatted and reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 with the version of fglrx available through jockey.

2 machines; one laptop with Intel graphics, one desktop with nvidia graphics.

Live cd boots fine in the laptop but displays weird graphical glitches when attempting to boot with nvidia machine.

Conclude that there must be a problem with nvidia graphics right now.

Tried nomodeset but only gets as far as login screen then freezes in low graphics mode.

So I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 from the Windows installer (dual-boot). Ubuntu seems to boot fine until it gets to the login screen. There are small graphical glitches in the screen and whenever I move the mouse, it becomes even worse (I can barely see anything on the screen). I run it on a mini-laptop with AMD athlon 64 processor and ATI radeon graphics.

I broke my install of ubuntu 11 a while back after trying to get multi monitor working. After spending a while trying to fix it I gave up. I recently got the Ubuntu urge again so Installed 12.04 first I just did an upgrade and at the log in screen everything froze and I couldn't do anything (move mouse/use keyboard) after a reboot I got crazy graphical glitches (white blocks/blurred text).

I am using Ubuntu for quite a while now (>5 yrs). Recently I updated my cpu to an intel core i5 3570 with a hd 2500 iGPU. I also got me a new mainboard (Asus P8H77-i).

Right from the start I experienced very rough graphical glitches when starting X (lightdm). So in a first step I tried to switch to Unity 2D (no changes).

I have been trying to dual boot OS X and Ubuntu and have found a few issues. First of all, I am using this guide. http://lifehacker.com/5934942/how-to-dual-boot-linux-on-your-mac-and-tak... I have just installed Ubuntu and rebooted. I saw GRUB instead of rEFIt.
