I have been using Filezilla for my default ftp client in my Ubuntu system. But this time I just want to install gFTP on my Ubuntu. As you may know, gFTP is a powerful ftp client to handle data transfer over FTP server. gFTP is free, multithreaded file transfer client optimized for Linux system.
I am an avid user of open source software and a firm believer in the benefits of FOSS. I have a choice of operating systems at my disposal, but I now cringe whenever I have to work in the Microsoft world. I much prefer the vast array of Linux apps. Why? They are bloat-free problem solvers. Take, for example, the gFTP File Client.
There are many free FTP client software. Below are some of the best FTP software for Windows Operating System.
1. Filezilla 3.3.2.1
FileZilla Client is a fast and reliable cross-platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP client with lots of useful features and an intuitive graphical user interface.
2.
I feel rather daft asking this but I can't find the option. I have gftp connected to a remote site and I want to edit a file. I click on the edit option and get an error that I must specify an editor in the options dialogue. I can't find the options dialogue can someone tell me where it is. Sorry:confused:

Hello,
I have a set of documents in a folder in my laptop (project files, codes etc) . I have the same material on a remote host over an SSH connection, and most of the time I end up editing one version, and sometimes the two versions go out of sync.
I have both a desktop and a laptop running Fedora 17 and Xfce. Until recently, I was able to use gFTP on my laptop to transfer files using SSH2 and Port 22, either from home or on the road.
We wish to install some servers in a remote datacentre to act as a backup storage location for our primary datacentre.
Assuming that both sites will have GigE connectivity, what is the best method to use for fast file transfer?
I'm using rsync from Cygwin to do a large scale data transfer from an aging HP MSA 1000 to a new DAS attached to a different server. I have a daemon running on the remote server in read only mode and a local copy writing the files to disk.
One of my servers is an image repository with over a million files spread across about 300 directories. Each file averages only a couple hundred kilobytes.
