I have been working on installing Ubuntu on my Power Mac G4 using the quantal-alternate-powerpc.iso package for the past few weeks. Tonight the stars were aligned just right and I made it through the preliminary install.
After the CD was kicked out of the machine I held down on Option and booted to Ubuntu. Everything seemed to be going great.
Hi everyone!
I'm relatively new to Linux and I just installed Ubuntu on my HP dv7. I also went ahead and downloaded and installed the newest Ubuntu update. Please don't ask the version. I only know Ubuntu detected it and asked if I wanted to install it. Usually, this is a good idea with any operating system.
I have used Ubuntu before on my previous laptop, after getting a new laptop I would like to install Ubuntu onto it, but I'm running into some major issues.
Firstly when I put the boot disk in it loads up fine until it gets to the try ubuntu / install ubuntu menu, at this point it freezes.
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Laptop (Intel Dual Core/Nvidia Graphics).
I am able to boot from cd and I reach the purple screen (here)
But after this screen there is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have seen all the similar topics but haven't solved it yet.
I broke my install of ubuntu 11 a while back after trying to get multi monitor working. After spending a while trying to fix it I gave up. I recently got the Ubuntu urge again so Installed 12.04 first I just did an upgrade and at the log in screen everything froze and I couldn't do anything (move mouse/use keyboard) after a reboot I got crazy graphical glitches (white blocks/blurred text).
I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my old laptop (Asus X50N).
I downloaded new nVidia drivers (my video-card is nVidia 7000M) and installed it as described here. After reboot I see for 1 second login command line and then black screen with blinking cursor (I can't type anything).
In safe mode I removed nvidia-current package but I still see black screen.
What I should do? Thank you.
Hello, and thanks for any help given!
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 64 Bit (Had Windows, But used Gparted to delete the partition), however, after the installation completes and I reboot, It stops at a Black Screen with a Cursor (Can't actually do anything myself) and does nothing.
I'v tried reinstalling it again, and come up with the same results.
After looking around a bit, I think it
