Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on my HP Pavillion tx2000 laptop. Most things are working swell, but my USB HD (which is a FreeAgent Desktop 1TB, not so new model) is having some problems.
I have 2 computers, Windows 7 Intel.
On one computer Ubuntu boot-able DVD (AMD 64) works properly. But on other computer the same DVD boots OK but when clicked on "Install Ubuntu" a blank screen with blinking cursor(_) appears and it continues just blinking forever.
What problem can be there in computer 2?
Can it be DVD reader's problem?
I turned on my computer this morning and found that all I saw was the bios splash screen. The BIOS had hung, there where no boot options displayed (normaly it says "F9 Boot Menu F10 Setup" etc).
I have had this problam before when one of my hard drives died, so I tried unplugging my main HD and my CD drive, still wouldn't boot.
Hi,
I have Ubuntu 9.10 on an Acer Aspire One (to play and learn Linux). I installed an Apache 2 web server
and that works fine. However, I want to be able to see files on an external USB drive.
hello all, I just installed 10.04 on my parents computer and they are loving it, but one problem has been happening which wasn't happening under windows.
I'm very new to Ubuntu (second day using it) so I may not know all the terms of what I'm trying to say.
I set up Ubuntu on a 32GB USB drive with a 25GB partition to save all my data on. This works fine on the computer that I set this up on (runs windows 7), and opens up to
and it saves all my data between sessions, etc.
Then I tried plugging it into my other computer (running windows 8).
I am using ubuntu 11.10 on my desktop (64 bit) for a long time. Few days back there was some issue with power supply and i have to shutdown my desktop using power button in hurry. Now when i am going to shutdown the desktop, the shutdown process starts and ubuntu logo and five dots comes and then it hangs. Can you tell me what went wrong in the situation of mine?
I have seen that once you install the server it just works on a different platform. That is , I install server, pick up the disk and plug it on to a different motherboard, it works, which is great.
I have come across a situation where disk swapping doesnt work. It stops at fsck (I could see this by pressing ESC key) and doesnt go ahead. What is it waiting for ? How do I find this?
Just upgraded to 11.04 and loving it. :D
However, when I boot the acer aspire 5100 laptop with external VGA monitor plugged in, or when I attach it after boot, both screens pixilate and I can't see a thing. Unplugging the monitor doesn't help and I have to reboot.
It works perfectly if the external monitor is never attached
Happens regardless of gnome or unity used. Maybe a driver thing?
