http://ubuntuforums.org – I've been using Ubuntu in VMs for the past 3 years and finally decided to give the 64-bit version a try on a physical install, however I've been running into few issues: 1. My audio is missing the center channel of my 5.1 speakers, and therefore most of my HD movies have no dialog, and the subwoofer doesn't work either. The default 5.1 sound setting is a total joke and doesn't even work properly. The system software doesn't even have additional audio tuning options for speaker-specific configuration like on Windows. sir, i have two 2.1 speaker . both of them is connected to back jackpot but sound is only coming from one 2.1 speaker. in windows with the help of realteck audio driver, sound is coming from both speakers ,my doubt is this is there any software like realteck in ubuntu ??

Well, as the title says, my subwoofer and central audio are swapped. I tried, as a post said, to mannualy modify the audio channels, In /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profile-sets/default.conf. I made a sound test, but subwoofer played center's audio and viceversa.

Please Help! I need somebody!, but not just anybody!

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 installed with virtualbox on Windows 7 Headset: Mic plantronics audio 400 DSP

Issues: I cannot use the MIC but I can hear sound from the headset without problems.

I have been looking around on various forums and have found different threads about the sound of the movies playing through XBMC does not work when with HDMI-connection, but to me I get sound on some movies and some did not.

Some movies I do not need to change any settings after I have started a movie.

I have a logitech LS21 2.1 speaker system.

It seems 5.1 surround sound on Ubuntu 9.10 either does work or it doesn't end of story. Mine doesn't! I have trawled the universe for help and nothing works. I have an external usb 5.1 sound card made by Trust (thats what it says in the base speaker) I have no other info on this. So far I have followed some instructions and changed a command in somewhere to read default-sample-channels =6.

Well I installed Ubuntu a couple of days ago and, first I had no audio, but solved it with Alsa-mixer. Now I play the sound test, I try with center and plays it with subwoofer, and viceversa.

I saw somewhere that with this command (gksu gedit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profile-sets/default.conf) I can swap the channels editing the text.
