http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi there, I recently bought this Acer Aspire One 722 and I have used it for around two weeks under Windows 7 Ultimate X64. Everything runs smooth on it except for when playing 1080p videos in .MKV format or Youtube. So now, I finally got to dual boot both Win7 and Ubuntu 11.10. I love Linux! but some things I cannot get over is flash and high resolution video. In Windows I use the CCCP codec pack and it plays 720p videos smoothly with Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic. With Linux I downloaded the codecs and play 720p videos using MPlayer and it plays quite rough, also youtube vid (Hardware)

[Q] 1080p playback in U8800 23 weeks 6 days ago

I am using 2.3.5 official update. 720p videos are working fine with MX player with hardware decoding on. But 1080p videos are not working with hardware decoding. It plays with a lot of lag with software decoding in MX player. I am wondering if I overclock the device will it play 1080p videos with software decoding. Is there any other way I can play 1080p videos on this device.

It started a few days ago, around Feb 14.

I'm running Firefox on Ubuntu, Lucid Lynx, with Shockwave Flash (flash player) 11.2 r202 which was just updated on Feb 15.

Just about that time I noticed that some of the videos on youtube.com won't play, the video play object says "This video is currently unavailable".

Then after a while, more and more until all videos on youtube.com wo

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and while using Ubuntu (unity 3d) full screen video playback is very choppy. This includes, VLC, movie player, and to a lesser extent youtube videos. However, not all video playback is choppy: smaller-sized or windowed videos run smoothly.

I have galaxy S3 and it can handle 10-bit 480p, but 10-bit 720p video runs slow

Is HTC one powerful enough to handle 10-bit 720p video smoothly ? Can someone test it ?

Note: The default media player probably won't play 10-bit videos. So, download MX Player from google play, and make sure you use S/W (software mode) for playing 10-bit video.

I've been trying to watch webm videos on youtube lately with only partial success. Some of them play alright, while others request Adobe Flash. For example, this video requests flash, and this one plays without.

I can't get my HD Radeon 6320 work at its best with Ubuntu 12.04 I have a U32U-RX028V laptop.

I can't play flash content in 720p or 1080p, even 480p in fullscreen lag. I've read this post : How to optimize Flash in Firefox but it did not work. I installed the drivers following Ubuntu Documentation.

Hello, I ve installed ubuntu 12.04.1 on my pc, (athlon xp 2200 - ATI Radeon 9800)

and when I go to YouTube with Firefox, the videos won't play... they load, but all I get is a black screen. The same happens when I navigate facebook, the embedded videos won't play.

the flash player plugin is installed, and also shockwave flash...

what could be wrong?

When I try to play flash videos on Photobucket either in FF or Konqueror the page freezes for about 30 seconds and then the player disappears.

I'm pretty sure I have all my codecs installed.

Videos play fine on Youtube.

I guess this is a Linux problem not specific to openSUSE because a friend of mine has the same problem in Ubuntu.
