So i installed 12.10 on a laptop the other day. install went fine but i have been trying for the past 2 days to get connected to a share on my Windows 7 box. I try getting there using the add server option from the tool bar and also by browsing the machine through the home folder network interface and both of which ultimately return the same error "unable to retrieve the share list".
I have a Synology NAS with a "Windows" share configured. When I click "Browse Network" => "Windows Network" in Nautilus, all I get is:
"Unable to mount location
Failed to retrieve share list from server
"
Note: This has worked 100% fine before, and I HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING.
Any ideas?
Hello,
I'm having trouble connecting to my dlink dns-321 nas drive. I had gotten it set up as a server and it was automounting at one point. I've moved and not tried accessing the drive for a few months and cannot connect to it now. It can still be accessed from my wife's mac laptop, so I know it is working.
Salvete! I have a machine running CentOS 6.2.
I have a home ethernet network with both Windows and Ubuntu computers and an Ubuntu laptop which uses a wireless connection. This network has remained fundamentally unchanged for a couple of years and has always worked perfectly. Now, however, both my Ubuntu machines give an error when trying to access the network:
"Unable to mount location
I have an Ubuntu server running samba that several Windows clients connect to. On my machine, I have Windows 7 and Gkrellm, which shows me different statistics about my computer, including network traffic.
I notice than when I open the share for the first time I get sustained 3-4 MB/s network traffic to the server (I think this is just maxing out my wireless) without doing anything.
Perhaps someone can help me through some of these issues...
I have recently put Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (please tell me if there is a better thread for this) on a lab computer for use as a file server, but I cannot seem to get our Windows computers to see the Ubuntu share or vise versa.
I just wiped my laptop and put 11.10 Ubuntu on it. When I select Windows network, I get "Unable to Mount Location. Failed to retrieve share list from server" I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find my specific situation. Thanks for your help all!
I have Samba share from a Ubuntu 10.04 machine which I seem to have no problems mounting in Windows XP running in VirtualBox.
However, when I try to mount it directly in Unity, whether using the nautilus smb://name command or by double-clicking on the icon in the network browser -- it always times out with "unable to mount location" "failed to retrieve share list from server"
I have verified thi
