[ubuntu] Failed Boot after Alsa uninstall and crash

http://ubuntuforums.org – So I decided to change the equilizer program that I had been using to PulseAudio. I opted to uninstall Alsa from my desktop. (10.04LTS) During the removal of all the left over parts from Alsa in the software centre my computer crashed and came to a black screen with a bunch of code. I opted to manual reboot. But when I restarted I had a message screen that isn't readable on the 32" tv screen and a return arrow as the only option. So I clicked it and it brought me to 4 other options I can't read. Gave me an X or a return arrow. ctrl + alt +f2 brings me to tty2 and when I input start (Hardware)

Question in short: How can I do a thorough removal of both Pulseaudio and ALSA drivers as well as flashplayer? My flash no longer works after switching from Pulseaudio to ALSA.

i've just installed opensuse 11.2 (Gnome) on my Dell xps1530 and everything works well, i'm very happy BUT inbuild microphone doesn't want to work! It's the only bug,not so bad ;-)) but i need it...

Pulseaudio-alsa is basically a config file to make programs outputting to ALSA use pulseaudio instead. So having pulseaudio-alsa without pulseaudio does not make much sense

I tried the live boot CD and boot-repair, also loaded the Desktop install CD, and it looks like all partitions check out OK. However, when I try to boot Linux (the only bootable partition on the computer) I get a blank screen.

Every so often the screen give me something akin to: Assuming write through cache Asking for cache data failed

it appears to start booting, then hangs.

Most everything works great on my samsung chronos 7 with f17 including led brightness, keyboard brightness, wifi, etc.

I've been thinking for a while about switching pulseaudio for alsa because pulseaudio is pure crap, but get this. My father told me, "Never ever switch out the most mature sound driver Linux has which is pulseaudio for some cheap not-so-stable knock-off called alsa." :blink::doh: I mean why would anyone think that PulseAudio is stable. It's real crap.
