Im running Ubuntu 11.10 from the USB stick.
I have a 2TB internal HDD which has 2 partitions of 1 TB each.
Problem is that Ubuntu here is detecting only one of the two partitions.
I cant see the other partition in Gparted or in the 'Disk Utility' App.
Its kind of a lost partition which I want to bring back.
Please help me detect and mount it. :(
I hope all the data on other partition is safe.
I'm running a dual boot of both Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7. I have two hard drives, and three partitions: Windows 7 on a dedicated SSD, Ubuntu on the second hard drive, first partition, and then a "Data" partition on that same drive. I have already moved all my linked "libraries" from Windows to the "Data" partition.
Note: The Data partition is a ntfs partition.
Hi, I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my laptop already running windows, but I just realized that a hard drive can only have 4 primary partitions (noob errors). I have a 500gb hard drive. The four partitions are the following: 1 Windows partition (450gb) with 300gb unused, a System partition from windows thats about 200mb, a 13gb partition labeled RECOVERY, and a 100mb partition labeled HP_TOOLS.
Here's the background:
I have two hard drives, one (SATA) with XP on it and another (EIDE) with an NTFS partition and Ubuntu on an ext2 (I think, or ext3, I can never remember which one's right). I also have an external hard drive (EIDE) that's completely NTFS.
I just bought a new laptop that comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and I want to install Ubuntu alongside with it.
The system came with 5 partitions:
System partition
Unknown partition
NTFS partition (the one with windows)
NTFS partition (to be used for data)
A recovery partition
I had removed the NTFS data partition and shrinked the windows partition to make room for Ubuntu as it will be my m
I finally succeed in running the ubuntu installer. Now have I switched to live-CD because I have one issue.
When I select "Install alongside windows 7", only my external drive appears.
So I just got a new Asus U47A laptop running windows 8.
My laptop came with Windows preinstalled. I shrank the Windows partition and created a couple of new partitions to install Ubuntu in. I've noticed that reading my Ubuntu partitions is much noisier than reading the NTFS partiion.
I have a 500gb external drive that I used for Windows storage. Later, I partitioned it and made an Ubuntu partition. Now, when I connect the hdd on windows, it is not able to recognize it, but Ubuntu can see all the data. Any way I can fix it so Windows sees the windows partition at least on Win XP? Thanks.
