[ubuntu] Error: No such partition (Grub rescue) on a notebook

http://ubuntuforums.org – hi all, While formatting my notebook, i accedentely unplugged it before it was finished :(, so now i'm getting the error "Error: No such partition (Grub rescue)", doesn't matter if i boot from the hard drive or a USB stick with Ubuntu on it (tried with windows too) i always get the same message! All the solution i have found so far include booting from a live CD wich isn't an option for me. HEEELP!!! thank you for your time. (Hardware)

Hi, I'm a pretty new Ubuntu user, and I can't figure out what to do from searching other threads.

Anyway, here's my situation: I had Ubuntu 12.04 installed on a partition, and OSX 10.7 on another, and it worked great. Then after I installed 10.8, my Ubuntu partition no longer worked.

Okay, so I split my HD into two partitions, my original windows 7 partition and an Ubuntu partition. I needed to delete my ubuntu partition briefly, but now when I try to boot my computer it comes up with "error no such partition grub rescue." I've tried booting from my Ubuntu CD to reinstall it, but it doesn't work.

So I bought a brand new hard drive and put Ubuntu 12.04 on it. Then I decided to replace it with Windows 7, and I overwrote the entire Ubuntu partition. Now I am wanting to set up Dual Boot, but when I try to boot with the Ubuntu Live CD I get the following error: error: no such device: 3807.. grub rescue>

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated..

having booting problems.i have windows on my primary hard disk(sda1) and had windows on my extended hard disk on a partition sda4,swapspace on sda5 and ubuntu linux on sda6 but i decided to delete the windows partition on sda4 and extend and move the linux partition using g-parted.once done,i got a grub rescue error since the grub file and its components could not be found.there is not enough inte

i have installed ubuntu inside windows and then afterwords i installed fedora 16...all time during start up its show os selection by grub loader but after i did some partition on windows its shows error:unknown filesystem.enterting rescue mode..

After installing Ubuntu 11.10, alongside windows 7, when PC restart automatically first time, I got this message, just below the table, PCI Device Listing,

Error: No such partition Grub Rescue>

Now PC is not booting at all, even if I restart it.

So... I have a MacBook Air and I recently tried to install Ubuntu on my external HD. I booted Ubuntu from a flash drive and everything had gone fine. I turned off my computer and when I turned it on again I got a message of error and a "grub rescue" line to enter some code.

My computer does not have a working CD rom drive, so I had booted from USB (used UNetbootin to make the USB) to install Ubuntu initially. I had Ubuntu working on my laptop (Gateway 7330gz), started messing around with it, and decided I wanted to start fresh again.

I had my Acer Aspire 3000 as a dual boot XP/ubuntu 9.10 a couple years ago.
