I installed 12.04 and my system works fine. But after updating packages with the update manager, problems occurred.
I can't activate the Nvidia drivers (Control Center -> Additional Drivers). When I try to activate them, I get a error:
Sorry, installation of this driver, failed.
The error indicates a log file, /var/log/jockey.log.
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an Asus G75V laptop with nvidia gforce GTX 660M. I first run 12.04 on this machine and was able to install nvidia_current drivers from swat ppa:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
This worked in 12.04 and after rebooting the machine my graphics where working properly.
I am not sure what is happening, I just installed Hackintosh on an external hard drive (without touching the Linux partition) and now I can't use my nVidia card (GT650M):
# bumblebeed
[ 1116.582339] [ERROR]No nVidia graphics card found, quitting.
notwifilaptop yoxter # lspci |grep nVidia
notwifilaptop yoxter # lsmod|grep nvidia
notwifilaptop yoxter # locate nvidia.ko
/lib64/modules/3.5.7-gento
Suddenly, after installing, boot was failed.

I just built the latest kernel from source and all went well, except when I boot into the new kernel I have no graphics acceleration. When I boot into the other kernel (3.2.something) I have nvidia drivers.

New Ubuntu user - just recently made the mistake of trying a different nvidia driver. I'd managed to get the last (nvidia-current) one working through software sources a few weeks ago. The other day I tried to cross over to nvidia-experimental-310 and this produced a system error.
Hello everyone.
I run Ubuntu 10.04 and once in a while I stumble upon the following error message on startup:
Code:
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode
The following error was encountered.
Ok, I discovered why I have no eth0 device.
